When we feel stuck, the instinct is to try harder.

Push more.

Figure it out.

Get more disciplined.

But that usually leads to the same place:

More pressure.

More hesitation.

More second-guessing.

And slowly…

You start to lose trust in yourself.


What’s Really Happening

What looks like procrastination…

is often protection.

You’re not avoiding the task.

You’re avoiding what might come with it.

  • Making the wrong decision

  • Getting it wrong

  • Having things change

  • Being seen in a new way

So instead of moving forward,

you pause.

You tell yourself you need more time,

more clarity,

more certainty.

But underneath all of that…

You’re waiting to feel safe.


Why Trying Harder Doesn’t Work

Trying harder adds pressure.

And pressure creates resistance.

The more you push yourself to get it right…

the harder it becomes to move at all.

You end up in a cycle:

Try harder → feel pressure → hesitate → delay → try again

And each time that cycle repeats,

your trust in yourself weakens.


Where Perfectionism Shows Up

Perfectionism doesn’t always look like perfection.

It shows up as:

  • needing to be sure before you begin

  • waiting until you feel ready

  • overthinking every step

It keeps you circling…

instead of moving.

Because you’re trying to avoid getting it wrong.


The Shift

Then take it one step further:

What’s one small step that feels doable?

Not perfect.

Not certain.

Just possible.


You’re Not Meant to Do This Alone

When you stay in your own thoughts,

everything feels heavier.

But in connection—

You gain perspective.

You feel supported.

You begin to hear yourself again.

And that’s where things start to shift.
